What is Battery Pack?
Battery Pack is a palm-sized anthology of tiny fiction, with each featured story weighing in at seventy words or less. It is distributed for free with Neon Literary Magazine and in various independent bookshops in the UK. It is neat, portable, and packed with excellent fiction. A new edition pops up every year or so. This year we’re seeking submissions for the third volume in the series. You can read, download and share the first two issues entirely for free.
Battery Pack is a free anthology, but it costs a lot to create and distribute. Please consider making a donation of any amount towards its publication. You can also help enormously by joining the mailing list, or sharing this call for submissions on social media. Neon Books can be found on Facebook and Twitter.
Accepted authors will be paid a flat rate of £2.50 via PayPal – enough for a coffee to drink while they read the complimentary copy of Battery Pack III they will receive. They’ll also get free copies to hand out to friends and family. Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but there’s isn’t space in Battery Pack to properly credit reprints, so only send those in if the original publisher doesn’t require credit. On acceptance Neon Books takes one-time, non-exclusive rights to your work, as well as the right to archive it.
How to Submit
If you have a story of seventy words or less that you’d like to be considered for Battery Pack III, you can send it in quickly and easily using the form below. The editor for this edition is Krishan Coupland. Expect to hear back within six months. We look forward to reading your work!
